Step 11: Filter Your Intake

I’m sure you’ve heard the age old saying, “you are what you eat”. Well, the same goes for what you visually, mentally, and spiritually ingest as well.
 

On an almost continuous basis we are all being bombarded with countless scores of information, ideas, personalities, and whatever else... all of which influence the way we behave and live out our daily lives. As I mentioned in Step Ten, we reflect what we surround ourselves with. So in creating a blissful life for yourself, why carry anything through your life that doesn’t support that which you want to create? Negative people, bad habits, questionable reality tv shows, internet sites that perpetuate hate, violence, discrimination, blame, or idle gossip... are all things that effect our well-being.

 

So let’s get clean! And I mean that both figuratively and literally.

 

Let’s clean up:
  • Our moods and bad habits - health wise, personality wise, and how we treat other people;

  • Our media intake - avoiding gossip/tabloid television, mindless 'reality' tv shows, etc.;

  • Our friend pools - clearing 'toxic' relationships from our lives;

  • Any negativity or hate we carry inside – for ourselves, people in our personal lives, people with differing beliefs or lifestyles then our own,  or even politicians;

  • Our homes - out with the old and outdated, broken and not used anymore; let’s get rid of and fix up all those little things around the house that take away our peace of mind.

Letting go of all the things that don't serve us anymore, that only hinder and harm our lives, opens us up to all the things our hearts have been desiring for as long as we can remember, when we remember that we're worth it and deserve a life worth living. Let’s let in positive energy and people. Let in the formation of new and better habits; let in a life worth living. Let’s let in fun, excitement, adventure, beauty, and love. Let’s watch movies and programs that increase your happiness, knowledge, and brain power, not take away from it. Let’s think of ways we can better our environments and neighborhoods, relationships, and selves. And of course, let’s eat foods that enhance our health, body, moods, and minds. ...And of course drink lots of water!

 

It is time. So simply put, filter in the good and out the bad.
