Step Eleven: Filter your intake
I’m sure you’ve heard the age old saying, “you are what you eat”. Well, the same goes for “you are what you intake”. On an almost continuous basis we are each bombarded with countless scores of information, ideas, personalities, and whatever else; all of which influence the way we behave and live out our daily lives. And as I mentions in Step Ten, we reflect what we surround ourselves with. So in creating a blissful life for yourself, why carry anything into your new life that doesn’t support that which you want to create? Negative people, bad habits, questionable reality tv shows, internet sites that perpetuate hate, blame, or idle gossip.
So let’s get cleaning! And I mean that both figuratively and literally. Let’s clean up your media intake; your friend pool –if you have any one in your life that creates more problems, than the good they create; any negativity or hate you may carry –for yourself, the people in your life, even politicians; your mood and any bad habits you may have –health wise, personality wise, and how you treat people (waiters and store associates included). Let’s clean up your home; let’s get rid of and fix up those little things around the house that take away your peace of mind.
Let’s let in positive energy and people. Let’s let in the formation of new and better habits; let’s let in a life worth living. Let’s let in fun, excitement, adventure, beauty, love. Let’s watch movies and programs that increase your happiness, not take away from it. Let’s think of ways we can better our environments and neighborhoods, relationships, and self. And of course, let’s eat foods that enhance our health, body, moods, and minds. And drink lots of water!
So simply put, filter in the good and out the bad.
