Happy New Year! You’ve made it to the first Friday of the year, how’s it feel? Are you liking 2017 so far??

I, for one, was ready for a new year. Out with the old and in with the new, I say! Okay, 2016 wasn’t all bad, but it definitely wasn’t an easy year, nor a joyous year, nor particularly un-depressing. But with any luck you learned some very important life lessons and made a few changes towards the better… and I’m sure some beautiful, fun, memorable, or even simply interesting things happened in your life last year as well, I know they did in mine. But with every loss and failure you suffer, something is gained whether physically, mentally, or emotionally. And whether that gain is for the better or worse, that’s up to you really. You can choose to find power through your struggles and...

It's Time for a Red, White, and Blueberry Breakfast!

Aebleskivers: Danish Pancake Balls

I love festivities! I just do, I can't help it. Any excuse to take extra time and care towards the end of creating something special or celebrating some unifying thing makes me giddy with enthusiasm. I'm not ashamed to admit it. So, this Fourth of July weekend I decided to take the vintage aebleskiver pan down off of the wall and put it to good use making something deliciously patriotic to celebrate our independence. I love the comforting effects of food, it not only nourishes our bodies, but also holds nostalgic memories and brings us closer together. Aebleskivers remind me of trips up the Californian coast with family and friends, taking detours to the little Danish town of Solvang; every time stopping...

A Simply Delicious Side Dish

You know what I love about potatoes?? That they're so versatile and so simple to prepare. You can bake them, roast them, mash them, boil them, fry them, scallop them, and even turn them into bread. There are so many ways to enjoy potatoes! And there's something about them that is both nourishing and comforting at once, I think it has something to do with the way they hold in heat.  But I digress...

This past weekend I had a blast at my friend's 7th annual 'Friends'giving Pajama Party Potluck. We laughed, we played games, we made hand turkeys, we watched movies, we ate! It was a great evening, and these simple and delicious oven roasted garlic potatoes were the prefect side dish to accompany the spread. I adapted this...

Sunday’s were made for Sunday night dinner, and Fall is the perfect time of year to share a home cooked meal and a cozy night in with the ones you love.

Between the damp & drizzly weather and longer colder nights, it’s finally starting to feel like autumn here in Southern California. The dip in temperature really makes being inside feel all the cozier, which of course inspires me to want to take advantage of the warmth of staying in and the company of a couple of my favorite people.

A simple table setting can go a long way towards creating something special.

The Art of the Sunday night dinner is the energy you put into the details. It’s taking a moment to set the stage for relaxed conversation and good food. It needn’t take much, here we used items we already had from around the house: a pair...
